This Ain’t Your Pappy’s Snake Oil…

If you’re like us, and I believe you are, we like taking old rusty crap and making something cool out of it. And when a new product comes around that claims to be too easy to be true we get skeptical. At the recent SEMA Show we rolled upon Evapo-Rust. A “super-safe rust remover.” They had some cool parts being cleaned, from chains to even an engine block. My favorite was the old tin can where after soaking in their water-based solution the rust dissolved leaving the painted label intact. WTH??!!

What I like best about it is that there are no hazardous waste products. Especially here in California, where if you eat too much broccoli you get cited for air pollution. It’s a water based product that when evaporates, you simply fill it with more water and voila! it’s back to it’s full strength. However, when it turns black, time to replace.

So we investigate. Upon return home, I asked my Mercifuls CC buddies if they have heard of Evapo-Rust. Jack said he uses it all the time, he get’s it at O’Reillys and works great. Nice testimonial. Now I got some parts on the Rapido I want to de-rust. Stay tuned as we plan to post an article on how it works soon. In the mean-time check out their stuff at www.Evapo-rust.com.
