Leveling Billy’s Blacktop Baller

When Billy moved to taller tires on his Hemi Ram Quad Cab, we didn’t realize the issues he’d have with the front fenders. Live and learn and hopefully, y’all will learn with us.

For a bit over a year now, Billy has been taking it easy on the bumps. That may be an understatement, he is driving like a grandpa. Come to find out he is being cautious of his front tires hitting the fenders of his ’07 Hemi RAM. You see, a bit over a year now, he put on some new Helo wheels and Nitto Trail Grappler tires. They stand nearly 36″ tall and occasionally rub on his fender. In-fact the drivers side took a bit of a beating. NO MORE we say. Time to install a set of Max Trac Leveling Spacers. We took it over to the experts at HB Hot Rods and Hogs for the installation.

The instructions say to remove the shocks, sway bar endlinks, and brake calipers and separate the upper and lower ball joints from the spindle. Dale, being the expert that he is, decided to simply remove the shock, and use a coil spring clamp to compress the spring and then slip in the Coil Spring Spacer. I lended a hand by compressing the suspension to give a bit more room to slip in the spacer. Once in, a bit of finessing and the spring fit in the cup of the spacer.

Not a bad installation at all. We would have been on our backs an entire Saturday if we didn’t take it to someone with professional tools and nice 2-post lift. HB Hot Rods and Hogs is a great shop in Huntington Beach that services your hot rod, custom, daily driver as well as your Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Unique to their shop are the in-floor dynos for both cars and bikes. In-fact, Ed was the only one around that could tune Billy’s beefed-up sidecar rig.

HB Hot Rods and Hogs is also an authorized Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger installer. That may be the next thing you see is installing one of those bad boys on our other RAM Truck… Stay Tuned. Also, stay tuned as they are working on a Dyno Days calendar for some fun time on the rollers.

More than just talk too, Ed is a seasoned drag racer both cars and harleys and he is currently finishing up his front engine rail that is BADASS.

Can’t say it enough, the whole crew at HB Hot Rods and Hogs are great at their particular specialties. We invite you to give them a look at www.HBHotRodsandHogs.com
