Dixie Rebelle: Our Rebellious/Italian Blacktop Betty

In keeping a bit with an Italian theme this week at Blacktop Magazine we offer Dixie Rebelle! A 24 year old Leo from Fullerton, CA who is self-proclaimed as half Italian, half Redneck. We say ALL Betty-licious!

After struggling through her childhood trying to find herself as a Goth, rocker, country, head-banger, punk, etc, she found herself in her love for Rock-a-billy music and fell in love with the thoughts of simpler times and unique people. Influences include Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and “The Outsiders”. Music, classic cars, vintage pinup models, and hot rod guys became her best friends.

Dixie bought her first car when she was 18. The 1965 Ford Ranchero is still her daily driver which she has driven since passing her driving test in it. Can you imagine, no seat belts or emergency brake, her personality must have won out on that inspector.

A rebel to the core, she first joined a few crews, car clubs, got into some fights and a bit of trouble with the law. Those experiences have ultimately taught her about responsibility, the rock-a-billy culture and now she applies her own make-up and hair in her unique way. She also took up sewing and makes her own vintage inspired clothing!

Dixie was teased as a youngin’ and always considered herself the ugly duckling in her group, although that was about to change. In 2007 one of her friends convinced her to do a pinup shoot for fun. She saved her money booked the shoot and realized this is what she is most comfortable doing. Her self-esteem shot through the roof and the duckling was gone and a beautiful swan emerged. She stays true to her roots and always encourages to everyone and never insults or makes fun of anyone, because she knows how it feels. Her encouragement comes with the realization that if you are good, humble, happy, and lover yourself for who you are, and others around you, you can make all of your dreams come true.

Dixie loves to sing karaoke, watch cartoons, eat cookies, work on her car, sew, read, write, modeling, making contacts, animals, music, the rain, horror movies and her Italian man, George. (with the blue metalflake truck, now with white scallops) You can find Dixie (and George) at most car shows and event in Southern California. Come on up to her and say hello, she will welcome you with a warm smile and open arms.
