March 1st., 2009 was the first running of the Blacktop Magazine's Workbench Drags!
It was an impromptu race held by drivers from all-over that met up at the Blacktop Garage to run what they brung. There were 5 classes running all-out. The dragster/funny-car class with four funny cars, two modifieds, and a rear engine top-fuel. The top-fuel won in its class. The Prostock class ran a pair of 57 Chevys, a pair of Corvairs, a pair of Corvettes and a 41 Willys Custom and 67 El Camino. The El Camino won the class. The Musclecar class saw a big grouping. Two Corvettes, a Chevelle, GTX, Dart, Superbird, Challenger, Fairlane, Dodge Demon, and a Cougar Eliminator. The Eliminator eliminated them all. The Hot Rod Modified class ran 18 different rods including a Bug and a twin engine sedan. The twin engine sedan took the trophy for this class. The custom show car exhibition class ran all three versions of the Twin Mill, two models of the Deora, Two models of the Splittin' Image. The brand new Twin Mill III won that class.
