Don’t Skimp On The Primer

Get to know the guys and their projects at Primer Podcast.

Hey I have this ‘60 Falcon Shop Manual, you can have it if you want.” William tells ‘Fish’.

I caught up with Davis and William of Primer Podcast at the Galaxie Studio which is William’s 1-car garage in Long Beach. And it is filled with a 1968 Galaxie.

For the most part, Primer Podcast is an hour long discussion between William and Davis after they get back from a car show, or working on thier many projects around the house and on their cars. Learn tips and tricks with some new tools, etc.

Pop a top and have a listen as the guys share their unique gearhead perspective. Go to: PrimerPodcast.com

Davis; 20 years working on his own cars such as his grandmother’s ‘67 Mustang which was a 6cyl daily driver till about three years ago when he dropped a 302 in it and upgraded the suspension for some light autocross. He also has a ‘67 Ranchero which you might see at the swap meets. He is a marketing designer in the autmotive industry for 17 years.

William; Former teacher and all around wrencher. He shares quite a bit of tips and tricks while working on his ‘20’s era home, ‘68 Galaxie and ‘65 F100. William next top goal to ge tthe ‘68 base model Galaxie really running smooth. The two-door hardtop has a 390, FMX transmission, power front disc brakes, power steering is just a great cruiser. He’s had it for over 20 years and earlier on, he wanted to hot rod it now he is looking to keep it a cruiser. Maybe bump up to a 410 with a new 428 crank.

We hung out in the garage and did a little interview video too. 95% of the podcasts are done in the Galaxie Studio. A cool separate garage down a long drive way in a quiet neighborhood. 1920’s era wood construction, with a small desk and work bench.

These two characters met from a  mutual “Fish”. Fish lived in an apartment behind William. William would basically stalk him because of his ‘63 Falcon. One day William left a ‘60 Falcon manual with a note saying, “Hey, I have this ‘60 Falcon shop manual, you can have it if you want.” That was the perfect “pick-up line” for a couple of gearheads. Fish and Davis were already friends and then they all hung out until Fish moved up north, and left these two knuckleheads at their own devices.

The podcast came up when they were at Ventura Nationals back in 2011. After the show, they were in the hotel room having a couple of cold ones and the idea came up to make a podcast so that they could find out more about some crazy car they saw at the show. So they did a URL search with a bunch of different names and PrimerPodcast.com was available. Primer came up because that’s where you start any project, car, bike, homes, etc. “Starts with a good coat of Primer.”

They have been going to events, interviewing car guys, wrenching, etc. It’s always a good listen so, go to PrimerPodcast.com, or subscribe via iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite pod scraper

They admit on the video that they aren’t talkers, they don’t have the gift of gab. But they do a PODCAST! You will instantly dig their originality.
